North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic: Domestic Violence Law Practice
The Domestic Violence Law Practice at NSLAC provides free domestic violence legal services to at-risk survivors. Domestic violence is any systematic behavior — whether physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual — used for the purpose of gaining power and control over another person. The team uses a careful trauma-informed approach to mitigate the effects of domestic violence on survivors and their families.
My Role: Non-Attorney Volunteer (Ongoing) at the Domestic Violence division. Key Learning: Researched a legal case on domestic violence, spot legally significant facts and present it to the Attorneys, identify the rule of law and understand the court’s reasoning. |
